Serene cove

cove, blue, water

Everybody has a happy place. Just a thought of your happy place can bring you immense peace. For many, the happy place is associated with the tranquility brought by the deep blue water. This painting of a serene, tranquil cove calms me down and gives me a lot of joy. I hope this painting reminds you of your happy place and brings you peace.

Painted with acrylic on 9x12 inch canvas paper. I painted this again on 6x6 inch gallery style canvas and painting continues on the sides. Original photograph by Lee Hunter from Pmp of Elberry cove, Brixham in UK.

Spring blossoms

Spring, blossoms, pink

I witnessed cherry blossoms for the first time after moving to Maryland and have fallen in love with them since. Fortunately, the streets right next to where we live have plenty of cherry blossom trees, which means that we get spectacular views for a couple of weeks every spring.

I typically use orange or magenta colored ground for my paintings. In this painting, I experimented with a different colored ground using a combination of phthalo blue, ultramarine blue and titanium white. If you prefer using a different colored ground, I would love to know more about it.

Painted with oil on 6x6 inch gallery style canvas from my own picture.

By my side

Black Stilt birds

I hope this painting reminds you of someone who always stands by you and I hope you can tell them- I just want you here, forever, "by my side" :)

Birds in this painting are black-necked stilts found on the shallow waters of the wetlands and the coastlines in the Americas. The original photograph was captured by Carolyn Post from Pmp at Kealia Pond National Wildlife Refuge in Maui, Hawaii. Painted with acrylic on 9X12 inch canvas paper.
